Can India match the fearless Australia of 2003 and 2007?

India is on a winning streak in the ongoing World Cup after recording nine straight wins and is within two steps behind the glory.

The journey started with a six-wicket win over Australia on October 8, and then the Rohit Sharma side went on a Rampage mode with massive wins over their opponents.

Indian bowlers made most the games one sided for them as India registered victory by 302 runs against Sri Lanka, 243 against South Africa, 160 over Netherlands, and 100 runs over England.

India’s dominance in 2023 World Cup

The men in blue dominance in the 2023 World Cup make everyone to compare this Indian side to the mighty Australian team of 2003 and 2007 World Cups.

Australia of 2023 and 2007 World Cups

The Ricky Ponting-led Australia side in the 2003 and 2007 ICC World Cups won 11-11 games in both the editions, and also lifted their third World Cup title in a row, fourth overall.

India, however, won the next edition but they faced a defeat in between their journey.

New Zealand in 2015 were defeat less with 8 straight wins into the final but they lost the final to Australia and handed the latter their fifth ICC trophy in a row.

Can India emulate Australia of 2003 and 2007?

And the India side of 2023 World Cup is looking pretty similar to Australia of 2003 with their powerful one-sided performances in 7 off their nine games.

They no doubt topped the points table chart and reached the semis as the number 1 team and now ready to face New Zealand in the first semi-final on November 15.

If India managed to win the game on Wednesday, it will be their tenth win in a row and they will then require to win the final to match the charisma of 2003 and 2007 Australian team, and the win in final will also make Indian side the second most successful team in World Cups (3 trophies) after Australia (5 trophies).
