The expansion of T20 culture has seen batters not being able to focus for long periods of time. It is only the top-flight batters who have succeeded in WTC.

#10 Ravindra Jadeja – 45.36
He is arguably the greatest all-rounder in Test cricket currently. Ravindra Jadeja occupies a spot in both the bowling and batting charts for top averages. He has scored 1,134 runs in WTC at a fine average of 45.36.
#9 Joe Root – 50.35
He has been batting on a different level since the start of 20211. Joe Root has plundered Test batting records in the last two years. He has scored a mammoth 3,575 runs in 42 Tests at a brilliant average of 50.35.
#8 Dimuth Karunaratne – 51.27
The Sri Lankan skipper is not credited enough for his batting displays. He has been one of the top openers in Test cricket for quite some time now. Dimuth Karunaratne has scored 1,846 runs in 20 Tests at a stellar average of 51.27.
#7 Dinesh Chandimal – 51.68
There is little surprise that Sri Lanka currently sits at number 3 on the WTC standings. Two of their batsmen average in excess of 50 in the WTC. Dinesh Chandimal has had a fine run too scoring 1,137 runs in 15 Tests at a top average of 51.68.
#6 Rohit Sharma – 55.96
He is the top-ranked Indian batsman on this list. Rohit Sharma has led from the front even in Test cricket. He has been India’s number-one Test batter ever since he started opening in Tests in 2019. Sharma has scored 1,735 runs in 20 Tests at an impressive average of 55.96.
#5 Steve Smith – 57.25
He is regarded as the best Australian Test batter after the legendary Sir Don Bradman. Steve Smith has scored 2,519 runs in 30 Tests at an average of 57.25. He made a stunning comeback in the 2019 Ashes scoring over 700 runs in just 6 Tests. Smith hasn’t looked back since.
#4 Usman Khwaja – 57.30
The left-handed batter has enjoyed a new lease of life as a Test batter in WTC. Usman Khwaja has matched consistency to go with his easy elegance. He has pummelled over 1,490 runs in 17 Tests at a superb average of 57.30.
#3 Kane Williamson – 57.95
The former New Zealand skipper led the side to glory in the first WTC. He has been off the radar recently but one can’t rule out Kane Williamson’s class. The calm and composed batter has scored 1,333 runs in 15 Tests at an average of 57.95.
#2 Marnus Labuschagne – 62.42
He is the third Australian batter in the top five. Marnus Labuschagne though has been Australia’s best batsman in the WTC. He has scored 3,059 runs in 30 Tests at an unbelievable average of 62.42.
#1 Babar Azam – 63.05
The Pakistani skipper takes up the numero uno spot for batting averages in WTC. Babar Azam has been the bedrock around which the Pakistan batting revolves. He has scored 2,459 runs in 24 Tests at a fantastic average of 63.05!
