Washington Sundar, an all-rounder for India, is questionable for the three-game ODI series against Zimbabwe in Harare, which begins on August 18. When Washington was playing for Lancashire in the county on August 10, he hurt his left shoulder while diving in the infield to halt a drive.

In the ninth over of Lancashire’s 50-over Royal London Cup match against Worcestershire at Old Trafford, he fell awkwardly on his left shoulder and quickly departed the field while gripping it. At that point, his shoulder was hurting, making it impossible for him to continue playing in the game.

Washington was not included in Lancashire’s 13-man roster for Sunday’s top-of-the-table Group B match against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl because he is still experiencing some shoulder soreness.

Washington’s initial intention was to play for Lancashire on Sunday before joining the rest of the Indian ODI team when they traveled to Harare on Saturday morning.

The shoulder injury is Washington’s most recent setback in his effort to help India make a comeback. He had missed India’s home T20I matches against the West Indies and Sri Lanka in February due to a hamstring injury. He had two webbing injuries while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL earlier this year, and he only appeared in nine games for his new team, contributing 101 runs and six wickets. The injuries to Washington and T Natarajan at the time, according to Sunrisers head coach Tom Moody, upset the balance of the starting XI.

He was excluded from India’s ODI tour of South Africa in January 2022 after testing positive for Covid-19. He had already missed his state side Tamil Nadu’s 20-over Syed Mushtaq Ali competition.

Prior to the 20-over Asia Cup, which starts on August 20 in the UAE, former India batter and current NCA head VVS Laxman will lead India’s coaching staff in Zimbabwe in the absence of regular coach Rahul Dravid, who has been given a holiday.

The Team India tour of Zimbabwe starts on 18th August for 3 match ODI series. A young squad will be set to face the hosts. The series is followed by Asia Cup 2022, where the team will meet Pakistan for their first match on 28th August.
