Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, has not played cricket in almost a month. Kohli last appeared for Team India in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in Southampton on 23rd June, when they were defeated by New Zealand by 8 wickets.

Team India had an extended vacation in the United Kingdom following the WTC final, ahead of the England Tests, which begin on August 4. India’s three-day practice match against County XI concluded in a tie on Thursday (July 22), although the 32-year-old Indian captain was unable to participate owing to a stiff back.

Kohli Will Be Hungry To Surpass The Triple-Figure Milestone in the ENG series

During the India-County XI match in Durham, though, Kohli was observed preparing and enjoying a batting workout at the nets. With the England series just around the corner, the experienced captain turned to his official Twitter account to send a motivating tweet.

Kohli will be keen to overcome his century streak against England in the next series. For the curious, the great right-most hander’s recent international century came against Bangladesh in November 2019. He hasn’t been able to focus on his appearances since then, failing to convert the fifties into triple-figure blasts. As a result, Kohli will be hungry to surpass the triple-figure milestone in the England series.

In 2018, India visited England for a Test series for the last time. Several analysts expected Kohli to duplicate his failure performance from his first tour to England in whites. Meanwhile, India’s poster boy reacted admirably, scoring 593 runs in ten innings at a strike rate of 59.3, including 3-hundreds. He wants to build on his previous achievements and lead India to a historic Test series victory.

India’s last Test series on English soil, in 2018, ended in a 4-1 defeat.
