Ravi Shastri Is Likely To Get A Salary Hike On His New Contract

Recently Ravi Shastri has been reappointed as the head coach of the Indian team after a 45-day extension from the world cup 2019. Now Ravi Shastri is set to get a massive hike on his remuneration. It is learned that the CTC of the head coach will have a 20 percent increase.  With this, his annual package will be in between Rs 9.5 crore and Rs 10 crore. Previously he has contracted with Rs 8 crores per annum.

As per the reports, the support staff will be getting a hike as well. The bowling coach Bharat Arun and the fielding coach R Sridhar who were retained in the team are expected to get about Rs 3.5 crore. Whereas the newly appointed batting coach Vikram Rathour who replaced Sanjay Bangar will be starting from somewhere between Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 3 crore. All these new contracts were already into effect from September 1.

Shastri after appointing as head coach said that his immediate goal is to maintain the consistency and give a chance to the youngsters.

“The reason why I came in here is the belief I had in this team, the belief that they could leave a legacy which very few teams have left behind which other teams going down will try and emulate,” – Shastri told.

He further said that World Test Championship and the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2020 are the two main focus points for the team going ahead.

“Next two years is to see the smooth transition happening. You will get a lot of youngsters coming — in both white-ball setup and Tests. You need to identify another three-four bowlers to add to the pool by the end of our tenure. My endeavor by the end of this tenure would be to leave the team in a happier space so that they can set a legacy in the time to come,” – he added.

He also mentioned that he, along with the team, would be trying hard to improve on all fronts and will make sure they learn from mistakes.

“You’ve got to learn from your mistakes, nobody is perfect. When you strive for excellence and strive to raise the bar then you have to pay attention to detail,” – Shastri said.
