After Ollie Robinson, ECB Brings Another England Player Into Spotlight For Historical Racism Posts

On his Test debut against New Zealand at Lord’s Cricket Ground, England pacer Ollie Robinson returned with figures of 4/75 and 3/26. In addition, he made a brilliant 42 in England’s first innings. This would be an interesting start to any Test player’s career. Robinson‘s experience, on the other hand, was a little different. While the pacer was troubling the Kiwis in his first Test, some of his past offensive comments resurfaced, bringing criticism. Also, Ollie Robinson comments went viral for this

Ollie Robinson’s viral Comments

Robinson, now 27, made some “racist and sexist” comments on social media when he was a teenager in 2012-13. As a result, once the bowler won his Test cap, those comments went viral. After seeing the reactions from the fans, the right-arm fast bowler apologized to everyone. But that wasn’t enough, the England Cricket Board (ECB) suspended him from all forms of international cricket until the results of a disciplinary investigation.

The pacer will no longer be available for the second and final Test against New Zealand. While the investigation into this controversial episode is still ongoing, Wisden.com reports that a second England cricketer is being investigated for historical ‘offensive’ social media posts. The cricket website claimed to have discovered a racist tweet but chose not to name the player since he was under the age of 16 at the time it was posted.

We are looking into it and will make further comment in due course- ECB spokesperson

“It has been brought to our attention that an England player has posted historic offensive material on their social media account. We are looking into it and will make further comment in due course,” a spokesperson for the England and Wales Cricket Board said.

Meanwhile, rain was a major factor in the first Test match between England and New Zealand. As a result, the game was tied. Everything now comes down to the second and final Test, which begins on June 10 at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

England was already missing Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Jofra Archer have been further reduced by Robinson’s absence. Dom Bess, an off-spinner, has been called up as a substitute, and it will be interesting to watch whether he gets a chance in the starting XI. Kane Williamson’s team, on the other hand, will look to snap a victory under the bag ahead of facing India in the ICC World Test Championship final.
