Mohammad Amir, Haris Sohail Exit From Pakistan’s England Tour

Pakistan’s fast pacer, Mohammad Amir, and renowned batsman Haris Sohail have pulled out of Pakistan’s upcoming tour of England. Last year, Amir had taken retirement from Test cricket. So, he is only eligible to play three-match T20Is. But he has withdrawn his name from the list because he wants to be present for the birth of his second child in the month of August. And Haris Sohail also decided to withdraw his name because of some personal reasons.

The Pakistan team and all other officials have to arrive in England a number of weeks before the beginning of the match to get training in the country and also to finish the mandatory quarantine period for all overseas players to the UK. All total, the Pakistani players have to stay in England for more than two months.

It has planned that on this tour, there are three T20Is and three Tests will be played without spectators. Furthermore, earlier this week, the ICC had provided green signal to the substitute usage if any cricketer showed any kind of COVID-19 symptoms during a Test match. And also, families of players are not allowed to come along with them.

All these rules & regulations enforced Sohail to withdraw his name from the tour as usually, Sohail doesn’t like to go for any tour without his family. In the last year’s World Cup also, PCB gave him special permission to take his family with him. If he would agree to this tour means, he has to stay away from his family for more than two months.

Mohammad Amir’s reason for withdrawing is more straightforward. If he would say yes to the tour, he couldn’t be available during the delivery of his wife.

The PCB has declared that it would announce a team of 42 numbers of a touring team including 28 cricket players and 14 numbers of supporting staff. Since the COVID-19, Pakistan will be the second team to tour England.
