Match Prediction For Ireland vs Scotland 6th T20 | Ireland Tri-Nation Series 2019-20 | IRE vs SCO

ABOUT THE MATCH

The final game of the 2019-20 Ireland Tri-Nation Series in Dublin will see Ireland and Scotland compete to win the series. The match will take place at The Village, Malahide, on September 20.

Scotland sits top ahead of this match, having won both of their games against the Netherlands. The batsmen excelled in the first meeting and it was the turn of the bowlers – led by Hamza Tahir’s four-wicket haul – last time out.

Their one defeat was in the previous meeting with Ireland, however – Andrew Balbirnie hitting 64 from 32 balls to lead the hosts to victory. They sit two points behind Scotland, however, after losing to the Netherlands most recently. Their other game against the Dutch was rained off.

TOSS PREDICTION

Scotland won the toss when these teams last met – the only time they have so far – and elected to bat first. Batting first has been the tendency, and Scotland could do the same again even though they lost to the Irish last time they met.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS

Conditions will again be sunny and clear in Dublin, with the prospect of rain very low. There will be quite a lot of wind around, however, despite temperatures around the 17 degrees Celsius mark.

Scores at Malahide have generally been high during this series. Even when Scotland carted the Netherlands last time out, they then scored at a high rate themselves. It is definitely a pitch for batting.

PROBABLE PLAYING XI OF Ireland

Gareth Delany, Kevin O’Brien, Gary Wilson (c, wk), Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Stuart Thompson, Mark Adair, Simi Singh, David Delany, George Dockrell, Boyd Rankin

PROBABLE PLAYING XI OF Scotland

George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (c), Matthew Cross (wk), Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington, Ollie Hairs, Michael Leask, Adrian Neill, Tom Sole, Mark Watt, Hamza Tahir

MATCH PREVIEW

Ireland

  • David Delany and Harry Tector made their T20i debuts when these teams last met and retained their places last time out too.
  • Craig Young and George Dockrell came into the team last time out, but Boyd Rankin could return this time.
  • This is also the last opportunity to give Simi Singh game time after he was called up to replaced injured Jacob Mulder.
  • Paul Stirling has not been risked as he suffered a minor injury.
  • Ireland has played two matches so far, having seen their first game against the Netherlands rained off.
  • Against Scotland, Gareth Delany (52) and Andy Balbirnie (64) led the a chase of 194 to win by four wickets with 2.2 overs remaining.
  • They then lost to the Dutch, however, despite Balbirnie’s 45 and Harry Tector’s 60.
  • The Irish scored 181/7 but failed to defend it – losing by six wickets in the final over.

Scotland

  • Tom Sole’s performance on his T20i debut should earn him another crack this time.
  • Alasdair Evans picked up a shoulder injury in the last game and, even if he is fit, it is doubtful he will be risked.
  • Mark Watt could come back into the team in his place. Scotland’s two wins so far in this Tri-Series have come against the Netherlands.
  • George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer starred with the bat in a total of 252/3 in the first game the Scots winning by 58 runs while Hamza Tahir starred with the ball in the second, as they bowled the Dutch out for 123.
  • In between, however, they suffered defeat to Ireland posting 181/7 from their 20 overs and losing by six wickets with five balls to spare.

PROBABLE WINNING TEAM:

Ireland beat Scotland when they last met and can seal Tri-Nation Series victory with another home win in the final game of this series.
