The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auctions broke quite a few records. Teams like Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore made The most expensive players in ipl. Apart from Chris Morris, players like Kyle Jamieson (INR 15 crores), Glenn Maxwell (INR 14.25 crores), and Jhye Richardson (INR 14 crores) went for big money.

#1 MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings) (2008)

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings for a whopping INR 6 crores. Dhoni remains the only cricketer to date for whom all the teams had raised a bid in the auction. Dhoni was the highest-paid player in the first-ever IPL auction.

#2 Andrew Flintoff (Chennai Super Kings), and Kevin Pietersen (Royal Challengers Bangalore) (2009)

The star English cricketers (Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen) were the toast of the auction in IPL 2009. They were bought for a whopping INR 7.35 crores each by CSK and RCB respectively.

#3 Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians) and Shane Bond (Kolkata Knight Riders) (2010)

Mumbai Indians bought the big-hitting Jamaican, Kieron Pollard in 2010 for INR 3.4 crores while KKR acquired the services of New Zealand pacer, Shane Bond for the same amount of money.

#4 Gautam Gambir (Kolkata Knight Riders) (2011)

Gautam Gambhir was the most high-profile signing of the IPL auction in 2011. He was acquired by KKR for INR 11.4 crores. His salary-cap sent down shock waves across the cricketing fraternity.

#5 Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings) (2012)

Ravindra Jadeja was the only notable signing of the 2012 IPL auction. He was acquired for INR 9.72 crores by CSK.

#6 Glenn Maxwell (Mumbai Indians) (2013)

Mumbai Indians acquired the services of the big show, Glenn Maxwell in 2013 IPL auctions for INR 5.3 crores.

#7 Yuvraj Singh (Royal Challengers Bangalore) (2014)

RCB broke the bank and created an auction record when they purchased Yuvraj Singh for a whopping INR 14 crores in 2014.

#8 Yuvraj Singh (Delhi Daredevils) (2015)

Delhi Daredevils went a step further in 2015 and purchased Yuvraj Singh for INR 16 crores.

#9 Shane Watson (Royal Challengers Bangalore) (2016)

RCB bagged Shane Watson for INR 9.5 crores in the 2016 IPL auction. He was the highest-paid player in the auction that year.

#10 Ben Stokes (Rising Pune Supergiant) (2017)

Rising Pune Supergiant (ex-franchise) acquired the services of Ben Stokes for a mind-numbing INR 14.5 crores.

#11 Ben Stokes (Rajasthan Royals) (2018)

Ben Stokes and Yuvraj Singh are the only cricketers who were the highest-paid player in auctions for two consecutive years. Rajasthan Royals bought Ben Stokes for INR 12.5 crores.

#12 Jaydev Unadkat (Rajasthan Royals) (2019)

For a second year running, Rajasthan Royals bought the highest-paid player in the auction. They bought Jaydev Unadkat for a whopping INR 8.4 crores.

#13 Pat Cummins (Kolkata Knight Riders) (2020)

The Australian pace bowler who is on the cusp of greatness was bought by KKR in 2020 auctions for INR 15.5 crores.

#14 Chris Morris (Rajasthan Royals) (2021)

Rajasthan Royals created history when they bought Chris Morris for INR 16.25 crores which is a record auction signing in the IPL.
