IPL 2020 – 5 Players Who Can Replace Shakib In SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad has suffered a major blow ahead of IPl 2020 auctions in December as Shakib Al Hasan Bangladeshi all-rounder has been banned for two years for failing to report approaches from bookies. Shakib accepted three charges of breaching the ICC anti-corruption code. He will be allowed to play cricket from October 29, 2020.

Shakib’s ban has made Mominul Haque and Mohammadullah the captains of Bangladesh’s Test and T20I sides, respectively.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, he played a vital role in the last few seasons. The Hyderabad Franchise will now be looking for a suitable replacement for Shakib Al Hasan in the IPL 2020.

Shakib Al Hasan’s likely IPL 2020 replacements

1.Glenn Maxwell (Australia):

Glenn Maxwell missed the last season of the IPL to concentrate on playing for Australia. Australian all-rounder, an archetypal T20 player, brings with him an experience of 251 T20s.

He also played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab since 2012. Maxwell has significant experience of playing in the Indian conditions. In 69 IPL matches, Maxwell has scored 1,397 runs at an average of 22.90 and a strike rate of 140.83 including six half-centuries.

2. Fabian Allen (West Indies):

He is a West Indies batsman, who scored 218 runs at an average of 27.25 at a strike rate of 177.23 in this year’s Caribbean Premier League. He represented West Indies in 12 ODIs and 10 T20Is.

Allen played a vital role in St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ victories. While Allen scored 37* (15) with the help of five fours and two sixes during a successful 242-run chase against Jamaica Tallawahs, he scored an unbeaten 62 (27) with the help of seven fours and three sixes in another winning effort against the same opposition

While Allen is a bowling all-rounder, he is an ideal cricketer who contributes across departments. His left-arm spin can turn out to be more than just handy in the Indian conditions.

3. Roelof van der Merwe (Netherlands):

Roelof van der Merwe is currently playing for the Netherlands in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers. The veteran all-rounder is a like-for-like replacement for Shakib. He also played for Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL from 2009-2013. van der Merwe has had a decent experience in the tournament. In 21 IPL matches, van der Merwe has dismissed 21 batsmen at an average of 23.71, an economy rate of 6.74 and a strike rate of 21.09.

4. Jason Holder (West Indies):

Former West Indies captain and current all-rounder Jason Holder dismissed 14 batsmen in 13 matches in this year’s Caribbean Premier League at an average of 25.71, an economy rate of 7.34 and a strike rate of 21. Holder finished the season as its third-highest wicket-taker.

Though Holder is not a spinning-all-rounder like Shakib, his presence as a pace-bowling all-rounder will boost Sunrisers’ prospects

5. Parvez Rasool (India):

Parvez Rasool is the captain of Jammu and Kashmir. An out-of-the-box replacement option for Shakib, the biggest advantage that Sunrisers will have of playing him is that he is an experienced all-rounder and also allows them to pick up an additional overseas player.

In 51 T20s, Rasool has picked 41 wickets at an average of 30.53, an economy rate of 6.80 and a strike rate of 26.9. The 30-year-old cricketer can also contribute well with the bat in the middle-order.
