INDIA VS BANGLADESH 2nd TEST MATCH:Team India Win Against Bangladesh In The Historic Day-Night Test

The 2nd Day-Night Test match between India and Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, bringing the series between the two to an end. An untested pink ball was not able to reduce the glaring gulf between the two teams as India bulldozed Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in their first-ever day-night Test to record their 12th home series win in a row.

All the attention was on the historic pink-ball Test at the Eden Gardens, There was a lot of anticipation bearing in mind that both India and Bangladesh were yet to play a pink-ball Test under the lights. The match at the iconic venue turned out to be a one-sided affair.

India lost the toss to start with but didn’t put a foot wrong as far as action on the cricket field was concerned. Ishant Sharma’s five-wicket haul pinned the Tigers for 106. Thereafter, Virat Kohli’s century helped India amass a huge lead and it put the home team on the driver’s seat.
In the second innings, Mominul Haque and Co could only manage 195 runs. Their skipper went on to bag a pair. Mushfiqur Rahim showed some fight with a 74-run knock, but it couldn’t save the visitors from being defeated by an innings and 46 runs.

India has consolidated their position at the top of the ICC World Test Championship, reaching 360 points after victory over Bangladesh, India had not yet dropped a point in the nine-team championship. They won 2-0 in the West Indies and beat South Africa 3-0 in a home series before completing their third series win in the Day-Night Kolkata Test.

It took India about 47 minutes on the third day to become the first team in Test cricket to win four straight matches by an innings. At 968 balls, this was the shortest Test with an outright result in India, beating the 1028 balls against Afghanistan last year. The win took India’s winning streak to their longest: seven. The most incredible statistic, though, was that this was India’s first home Test win without a single wicket from a spinner. It was only their second such win overall after Johannesburg in 2018.

The trio of Ishant Sharma (9/78), Umesh Yadav (8/82) and Mohammed Shami, who picked up two wickets in the first innings, demolished Bangladesh in little more than two days.
