Hardik Should Get A Chance, He Can Make A Strong Comeback: Gambhir

Former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir believes Hardik Pandya should not be written off following his exclusion from the present three-match T20I series versus New Zealand. Hardik hasn’t had the greatest of times over the previous 2 months, as he has struggled for both India and the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Lets look at what Gautam Gambhir Speaks About Hardik Pandya Comeback.

Furthermore, the reality that he didn’t bowl much in the IPL and 2021 T20 World Cup posed his sides with a lot of problems. Hardik bowled 4 overs in the World Cup, allowing 40 runs and failing to take a wicket. Gambhir, who was formerly one of India’s best openers, believes Hardik can find a successful comeback if he improves his fitness and starts bowling on a regular basis.

“You won’t find a No.6 in one day. Nor will you find a replacement for it. And you cannot count out Hardik Pandya as well. People have already started writing him off, but if he keeps himself fit, does regular bowling, come back to form, he should definitely get a chance, he is still young”.

“But with that if you give other players a chance as well, and give them a longer rope, only then will you understand their capability,” Gambhir.

If you keep changing players, you won’t be able to find your best XI: Gambhir

Gambhir also advised the selectors not to modify their playing XI’s after a setback or 2. He asked the selecting committee to have belief in the individuals.

“If you keep changing players after every series you won’t be able to find your best XI. There is replacement for every player in this country, given the amount of cricket we play in India, no one is invincible or indispensable. But players must be trusted with the role for a longer period to understand their capabilities,” he added.

Hardik made his first appearance for Team India in 2016 and was considered towards becoming India’s true all-rounder in the future. Pandya, on the other hand, has had a succession of injury issues in the past 3 years or so, forcing him to stay out. He hasn’t been featured in Test cricket for 3 years due to his continual struggle with injuries.
