Dravid Will Not Be Able To Stand In Front Of Shastri: Aakash

The Indian Cricket Team head coach, Ravi Shastri is currently in England for 5 match Test series, and there is plenty of buzz around fans and pundits for making Rahul Dravid the new head coach of team India as Ravi Shastri’s contract will be expiring post-T20 World Cup this year. “I Don’t Think Rahul Dravid Is Going To Put His Name,” Aakash Chopra Backs Ravi Shastri To Continue As India’s Head Coach

However, Rahul Dravid took over the coach position for the second-string Indian side – which is currently touring in Sri Lanka. Many were praised for the combination of Dravid as the coach and Dhawan as the captain for the young team.

Everyone would love to see Rahul Dravid as an Indian coach but Aakash Chopra feels a different way. Chopra feels that just like the last few times Dravid ignored the head team coaching opportunity, it will be the same this time around.

“I don’t think Rahul Dravid is going to put his name on the list. There can be just one competition if Rahul says he wants to be India’s coach. If he wants, then it will be a strong fight,” he said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Ravi Shastri is a strong contender than Rahul Dravid: Aakash Chopra

Rahul Dravid has already discussed how he prefers giving time to his family and coaching the head team will be a big responsibility and time-taking activity. Chopra feels that however if Rahul Dravid considers coaching or not, it will still keep Ravi Shastri as the strong contender.

“But if Dravid doesn’t put his name, whoever puts his name on that list, he will not be able to stand in front of Ravi Shastri, that is what I believe but then we shall find out,” Chopra said.

However, India has not seen any major glory in ICC tournaments over the course of years. Post-2013 ICC champions trophy, India has failed to conquer the cup every time under both Virat Kohli’s and MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
