The Hundred: Alex Davies, Tim David shine as Brave beat Rockets by 6 wickets

Southern Brave miraculously defeated Trent Rockets by six wickets with five balls remaining to maintain their slim chances of defending their Hundred title.

Needing 75 from 36 balls, Brave appeared to be doomed, but Davies’ unbeaten 51, Whiteley’s 30, and Tim David’s not out 6-ball 19-run knock hurt the Rockets’ chances of advancing directly to the final.

Earlier, Rockets posted a below-par total of 138 for 6 with Dawid Malan (59) remained the top-scorer for them.

The Hundred: Trent Rockets Vs Southern Brave Match Highlights

Number 2 on points table, Rockets made a slow start and felt pressurized when they lost their 2 wickets early.

Dawid Malan, however, rescued them with this brilliant batting and first added 51 with Samit Patel for the 3rd wicket before the latter walked back to pavilion after scoring 21.

Malan too walked back soon, but his 59 helped the Rockets to cross the 100 mark in 76 balls, with 24 balls remaining to put a big total on board. There batters, however, were unable to do so as Rockets only managed to post 138 on board in their 100-ball quota.

Chasing a modest target of 139 in 100 balls, Brave witnessed a serious trouble as they lost 2 of their main wickets even before touching the double-digit mark.

Both Paul Stirling and skipper James Vince got out on ducks.

Quinton de Kock and Alex Davies soaked some pressure by adding 43 for the third wicket, but their pace of scoring runs were slow and soon de Kock too got out.

That’s the moment the game shifted towards Brave’s side as soon as Whitley joined Davies at crease both started to score runs quickly as a result when Whitley walked back after scoring 30 off 21, Brave required just 18 off 11 balls, with Tim David finished the game in his stylish by smashing a 6-ball 19 to hand his side a 6-wicket win with five balls to spare.

Brave have now won three games but must hope other results go their way to have any chance of making next Friday’s Eliminator on home soil.
