Krunal Pandya ruled out from the Royal London Cup due to an Injury

Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been ruled out of the Royal London One-Day Cup after picking up a groin injury and will start his rehab as he comes back to India from London on Monday night.

Krunal picked up his groin injury when he was batting for Warwickshire against Nottinghamshire on August 17th. However, he did not do the field in the second innings and was also not part of the squad for the games against Middlesex and Durham.

Krunal played five matches for Warwickshire in the Royal London Cup scoring 134 runs with an average of 33.50, he also managed to pick up nine wickets with his left-arm spin bowling in his five matches. He scored a brilliant 82 runs from 74 balls against Surrey, where the match ended in a draw.

The Warwickshire side has signed two Indian players Krunal Pandya and Mohammed Siraj being the other Indian player.

Krunal Pandya came into this Royal London Cup to get some game time and perform well and get in contention to get selected for the Nation side (India). Krunal is 31 years old and he probably has 3-4 years left in his tank before he retires, so Krunal will be looking to get back in perfect shape quickly and play as much cricket as possible.

When asked about the emotions behind the injury concern the Warwickshire Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace said that “It’s frustrating to lose Krunal for the remainder of the tournament, but he leaves the club with our very best wishes, Krunal was an excellent role model around the group and I’m sure the younger members of the squad will have learnt a lot from him on and off the pitch. Due to the short turnaround, we won’t be signing a replacement, however, I’m incredibly excited to see our squad build on Sunday’s excellent win over Durham.”

The Doctor’s reports suggest that Krunal will take almost 3-4 weeks to come back from injury and that’s why he has been ruled out of the tournament.
