Every year on May 1st, Gujarat Foundation Day, also known as Gujarat Sthapana Divas, is commemorated to mark the formation of Gujarat as an independent state from Bombay in 1960. It will be 62 years old in 2022. In IPL 2022, the new squad has played some outstanding cricket, led by Hardik Pandya. With 16 points in nine games, they are well rightfully in first place in the standings.
GT COO Arvinder Singh, speaking ahead of the event, said, “Gujarat has played a key role in India’s post-independence development. As a cricketing area, it has produced a number of notable players who have played for India at the highest level. Gujarat Day will be celebrated with zeal and pride throughout our state.”
Meanwhile, according to Pandya, “Gujarat Day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and I’m looking forward to enjoying it with my colleagues. We are unable to play at our home field due to the current scenario, but we want to feel closer to home by commemorating Gujarat Day. I want to wish everyone a wonderful Gujarat Day.”
