Women’s Asia Cup 2022: India beat Thailand by 9 wickets

Team India registered a big victory over Thailand bowling them out for just 37 in the nineteenth match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 on Monday. Let us look at the India Vs Thailand match highlights in detail.

The 20-over game was completed in just two hours, courtesy of dominant bowling performance of team India’s bowlers.

Later, Sabbhineni Meghana and Pooja Vastrakar guided the team claim a comfortable 9 wicket victory with 14 overs to spare.

India after winning the toss opted to bowl first, and their bowlers proved the decision right with their more than domination bowling during the game. They just out shadowed the opponent in the game and didn’t let them cross even the 40-run mark.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma provided India first breakthrough and then started the falling of wickets that didn’t stop lately.

Every Thailand batter found it hard to stay on crease, as apart from Nannapat Koncharoenkai, no other batter even crossed double-digit mark.

Koncharoenkai was the highest run-scorer for the side with 12.

Sneh Rana bagged the most number of wicket for India. She gave just 9 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets. Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad grabbed 2-2 wickets each. While Meghana Singh took a single wicket.

India to chase 38 in 20 overs

The women in blue chased the target in 6 overs, as both Sabbhineni Meghana and Pooja Vastrakar remained unbeaten in the process.

Shafali Verma, however, lost her wicket while chasing a small run target and gone for 8.

Meghana remained not out for 20, while Pooja scored 12 not out.

India have only lost to Pakistan in this multi-team event. While Pakistan too lost a single game that was against Thailand.

Smriti Mandhana‘s 100th T20 match

Smriti Mandhana, who made her debut for team India in 2013, became the second Indian player to play 100 games in T20I cricket.

The left-arm batter accomplished this feat in the Women’s Asia Cup game against Thailand on Monday.

Apart from Mandhana, the current skipper of team India Harmanpreet Kaur is the only player to play 100 plus matches. Kaur has played 135 T20Is for India, in which she scored 2647 runs at an average of 27.28, including one century and 8 half-centuries.

Mandhana, on the other hand, has scored 2373 runs in 100 games for India till now. She maintained an average of 26.96 and a strike-rate of 122.19.

The star batter Jemimah Rodrigues currently leading the most runs chart in the tournament with 188 runs in 6 games at an average of 94 and a strike rate of 144.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma is the top bowler in the tournament so far with 10 wickets in 6 games so far in the continental event.
