There has been much discussion following the India Women’s cricket team’s ODI series sweep of England Women at Lord’s. The English media began slamming Indian women’s cricketer  Deepti Sharma. When she scalped Charlie Dean in style in the final ODI.

On Friday, Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to criticize the English media’s coverage of the incident.

I find it very disturbing that a large section of the English media is questioning a girl who followed the rules. Not like another who was gaining an illegal advantage and was a habitual offender. That includes reasonable people, and I believe it is a cultural phenomenon. The English thought it was wrong just because they ruled over a large portion of the cricket world. What they told everyone else that it was wrong.

Few questioned colonial dominances because it was so powerful. As a result, the mindset remains that what England considers wrong should also be considered wrong by the rest of the cricket world, much like the “line” that the Aussies insist on not crossing.

We come hard too, pleading with others to awaken from centuries of colonial slumber. The simplest thing to do is to follow the rules of the game and stop worrying about subjective interpretations of the spirit of the game, and to refrain from imposing your opinions on others. The non-striker must remain behind the crease until the bowler’s arm reaches its highest point, according to the rules. If you follow that rule, the game will run smoothly.

If you point fingers at others, as many in England have done with Deepti, you leave yourself open to questions. It is best if those in power, or who have been in power, stop believing that the world must revolve around them. As in society, where judges apply the law of the land, so it is with the judiciary.

Ben Stokes’ Reaction To Harsha Bhogle’s Threads Slamming English Media Goes Viral

On Saturday, England test captain Ben Stokes responded to cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle’s lengthy thread on English media in which he slammed them for labelling Indian cricketer Deepti Sharma’s decision to run Charlotte Dean out on the non-end striker’s as ‘unethical’ during the recently concluded England vs India ODI series.

Harsha, a veteran commentator, took Twitter on Friday to express his disappointment. And  also to criticize a segment of the English media. Some of the tweets irritated Stokes, who responded with a sharp retort.

Check out the tweets As Stokes particularly objects to Harsha’s comment on English Culture.

After that stokes mentioned that he still receives countless messages. From Indian fans as well as from world calling him sort of names because of the 2019 World Cup. The throw by New Zealand Fielder ricocheting off his bat while taking a run and going towards the boundary. After that England got 5 crucial runs.

Stokes stressed the fact that he is receiving messages from all over the world regarding that run-out, not just English fans. At last, Stokes countered about the world’s reaction on the run out.
