India vs Derbyshire: India Won By Seven Wickets In A Warm-up Match Against Derbyshire

India vs Derbyshire: Dinesh Karthik-led team made a convincing win in a warm-up match played against Derbyshire on Friday. The visitors showed an all-rounder performance, with batsmen and bowlers contributing their best at regular intervals.

During the toss, Derbyshire was asked to bat first. The blue and orange brigade began to strike in the first over with Umran Malik handing over L Reece (1) as an early wicket.

The team’s captain and Pakistan-opener, Shan Masood also took the pavilion route within no time by scoring just eight runs off 11 balls. Along with Malik, Arshdeep Singh started using his pace and made the opponents suffer from his attacking bowling.

Both the bowlers from India picked two wickets each with Axar Patel and Venkatesh Iyer plucking one wicket each. In the first innings, Derbyshire was able to score 150 wickets for the loss of eight wickets.

India had to taste an early dismissal with Ruturaj Gaikwad returning to the dugout in the first over just by scoring three runs off four balls. The partnership between Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda had made the team reach the shore at ease.

When Samson was slowly building the attack, Hooda showcased some aggressive performance by contributing some good knocks at crucial stages. He put up a 78-run partnership with Samson before departing for 59 runs.

Before Hooda’s wicket, Leus du Plooy took Samson out of the crease where he got departed by scoring 38 runs off 30 balls. Suryakumar along with, captain, Dinesh Karthik completed the remaining of the match with more than three overs to spare.

Derbyshire posted a respectable score on the board with Alex Hughes and Matt McKiernan ensuring that the team reached the 150-run mark. Despite some good shots in the initial overs by Wayne Madsen, Hilton Cartwright, and Brook Guest played, the hosts couldn’t reach make a much-impacted score which can help the visitors to keep under pressure.

The duo – Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav – proved to be the game-changer in the middle. Yadav used the pace to play against the bowlers, while Hooda made a sensible approach and achieved a half-century mark. India is going to play another warm-up match against Northamptonshire on July 7.
