India Overtakes Pakistan in the ICC ODI rankings

ICC ODI Rankings: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday announced the most recent ODI rankings, and India has surpassed Pakistan. As a result of their victory against their bitter foe Pakistan, India currently occupies third place in the new rankings. One day after India defeated England in the ODI at the Oval on Tuesday, the most recent rankings were released.

In terms of ODI team rankings, India is now third. In the most recent ODI team rankings, New Zealand is at the top, while England has slid to second place, above India. Pakistan has slipped to fourth place.

After defeating England by a margin of 10 wickets, India climbed to third place in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. India started the match in the fourth position with 105 points, but after the game, they moved up to the third place with 108 points, passing Pakistan, which was ranked fourth with 106 points.

With a six-wicket haul against India, Jasprit Bumrah was mostly to blame for England’s demise, which resulted in the lowest ODI score (110) for the hosts. Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna joined the rest of the pacers in a group effort around Bumrah, each taking three wickets.

Jasprit Burmah guided the Indian side to a 10-wicket victory in the first ODI with a polished effort that enabled India to contain England to 110 runs thanks in large part to his outstanding bowling.

Bumrah finished his tenure with a strike rate of 19/6 after bowling three debut overs.
Following Stuart Binny and Anil Kumble, the performance ranked third among India’s top ODI bowling performances.

India will now try to win the second One-Day International at Lord’s and complete the three-match ODI series.

On Thursday at Lord’s, the second One-Day International between India and England will be played.

England is ranked second with 122 rating points, while New Zealand continues to dominate at the top of the leaderboard with 126. Following a convincing victory over the West Indies last month, Pakistan edged India to the No. 4 slot in the rankings. Australia dropped to third after losing the series against Sri Lanka, and that allowed Pakistan to move up to the No. 3 position. They only remained at No. 3 for a brief while, as India quickly took over.

With the two remaining ODIs against England and the three-match series against the West Indies later this month, India might widen their lead even further before Pakistan plays their next set of ODIs. If they lost the next two games of the series against England, India would fall behind Pakistan and into fourth place.
