Glenn Maxwell being added to Australia’s test team for the upcoming Sri Lanka series

The Australian Test team for the tour to Sri Lanka now includes Glenn Maxwell. Travis Head is recovering from a small hamstring issue, so the Victorian all-rounder was called up on Thursday night ahead of the first Test match in Galle next week.Glenn Maxwell added to Australia’s test team

Star white-ball striker Maxwell has only participated in seven Test matches since making his debut against India nine years ago. In Ranchi in 2017, he also achieved his sole Test century against India.

Following the Australia A trip, Jon Holland, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Todd Murphy will also remain in Sri Lanka to help with the Test preparations and to expand their cricketing expertise in the region.

Head was ruled out of Friday’s fifth and final ODI in Colombo due to a hamstring issue. It’s believed that Head ran more than 15 kilometers during game three, with the difficult terrain and muggy weather making recuperation difficult.

Despite having a small hamstring injury during the setback in game four, the 28-year-old nevertheless managed to run more than 11 kilometers.

After Sri Lanka won the series-clinching game on Wednesday by a score of four runs. Mitchell Starc (finger) and Steve Smith (quad) are both out for the dead-rubber match.

It is hardly the best way to be ready for the first Test. The test will begin on Wednesday, to have all three remaining on the sidelines. Australia suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss in their most recent Test series there in Sri Lanka in 2016.

Australian captain’s statement on his players availability

When questioned about the team’s injuries, Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch replied. “There are a lot of them.” “Due to a hamstring injury, Travis Head will miss the following game.

“It’s more of a precaution. Since the terrain is extremely heavy where he fields and he travels a lot of miles there. I’m unsure about his appearance during the Test matches.

“Starc is still not right; the stitches and where it is just haven’t fully healed. So if he can’t bowl with tape on, he’s out.”

Head had a breakthrough season, hitting 357 runs at 59.5, including two hundred, as Australia thrashed England in the Ashes. As Head’s substitute, Josh Inglis might make his ODI debut, or Australia could decide to field an additional bowler in their last white-ball match of the trip.
