Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds Caught Insulting Marnus Labuschagne

The BBL and cricket Australia had to face an embarrassing day. The point of contention being legendary players like Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds being caught passing derogatory remarks on air. The duo were preparing to commentate on Friday’s BBL match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades. Both Warne and Symonds were unaware of the fact that the feed was being streamed live on Kayo, the streaming arm of Fox Sports. The BBL match started late thanks to the third Test match between Australia and India being played in Sydney had not seen the close of day’s play.

Conversation between Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds:

The conversation between former Australian teammates started on a simple note with Warne suggesting that Marnus Labuschagne should be brought on to bowl. However, Symonds quickly referred to him as “ADD” meaning attention deficit disorder, concerning Labuschagne, and Warne followed up with a swipe at Labuschagne’s mannerisms while batting. The final part of the conversation saw Symonds referring to giving Labuschagne “the hogpile” -a group of people jumping on each other. To which Warne quipped, “Give Marnus a bowl.”
Symonds again followed up saying, “Do something… that or his ADD.” Warne exasperated on air saying, ”Jesus, it’s annoying. ‘No!!!'[imitating Labuschagne batting] Just f***** bat properly.” Symonds condescendingly quoted, ”You’ll have to give him the hogpile, ‘mate, if you keep that shit up, we’re gonna squash your guts out of your arse”

Kayo Sports apologised for such disgusting remarks:

The footage was posted on social media much to the embarrassment of Kayo. The official handle of Kayo tweeted: “Our stream started early and caught some unacceptable comments. On behalf of @kayosports and the commentary team, we unreservedly apologise.” The remarks made by former fellow Australian players is highly demeaning and belittling in nature. It doesn’t bode well with the personalities these players are. Warne and Symonds have been cricketing role models for the younger generation and for them to make such comments is disturbing. The Australian media and the public will love to know what Labuschagne has to say in this matter. He is currently part of the Australian team in the ongoing Sydney Test. Australian fans will hope that this incident doesn’t distract Labuschagne from his batting duties.
