Suryakumar Yadav claims Third Position in Latest ICC T20I Rankings

India batter Suryakumar Yadav has significantly improved in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings as a result of his outstanding performance in Tuesday’s opening T20I of India’s three-match series against Australia in Mohali.

Yadav edged Pakistan’s Babar Azam to claim third place after playing a solid inning of 46 off 25. Yadav advanced one spot.

Apart from him, Hardik Pandya has also climbed in the latest ICC T20I rankings. The star all-rounder overtakes Australia’s Glenn Maxwell to secure the fifth spot among all-rounders.

The hard-hitting Pandya’s crucial yet destructive knock of 71 off just 30 balls has helped him climb 22 places to 65th position.

While, Axar Patel has climbed the bowlers’ rankings, going from 57th to 33rd after his three-for-17 performance.

Following a 30-ball 61, Australia’s Player of the Match Cameron Green entered the top 100, but fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who claimed two wickets during the match, still holds the top spot among bowlers.

Talking about the 1st T20I, India lost its captain Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (2) for low scores after Australia gave them the opportunity to bat first.

The innings, however, was subsequently stabilised by a 68-run partnership between Rahul (55), and Suryakumar Yadav (46). Team India managed to post a big total of 208/6 thanks to a stunning effort from Hardik Pandya. He scored 71* off just 30 balls while hitting seven fours and five sixes.

Chasing a target of 209, all Australian batters did their contribution and their efforts clearly visible in result.

Although, it was Cameron Green’s 61 off 30 that boosted the confidence to chase the massive total. Later, the wicketkeeper batter Matthew Wade joined the party. He played a destructive unbeaten knock of 45 off just 21 to help his side cross the line.

The second match of the series will take place on September 23 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
