Moeen Ali vows to come back to England Test team for Pakistan Tour

Moeen Ali expressed his desire to end his retirement from Test cricket and to play for the England side for the Pakistan tour later this year.

Moeen has played 64 matches in his test career before he admitted that he found it hard to stay motivated for the five-day form of the sport in last September.

However, new England coach Brendon McCullum’s effect during the current Test series against New Zealand has impressed the 34-year-old star all-rounder.

And, during a commentary stint on BBC’s Test Match Special. Ali indicated he would be ready to play for the English side again for the England tour of Pakistan this winter.

“When, or if, (England head coach) Baz McCullum wants me, I’ll definitely play in Pakistan,” he said.

“I have played Pakistan Super League out there a few years ago but it’s not the same, to travel with an England side there having family background from that part of the world will be amazing. It would be a historic event because of England not touring there for so many years.

“I know the support and love you can get out there, they love cricket. It’s really something that’s very appealing for sure.”

The ‘new era’ England team under coach Brendon McCullum and the captain Ben Stokes won the first match of the 3-match test series against New Zealand by 5 wickets at Lord’s last week.

In the continuing second Test, England has found it difficult, but Moeen is fascinated by the prospect of becoming a part of the new team.

“I find it very hard to say no to him. He scares me a little bit. We’re going to have a chat and see how it pans out. At the time I said I was retired I felt like I was done. I felt really tired with cricket.”

He has scored 2914 runs in the 111 innings he played for England in tests, including 5 hundreds and 13 half centuries. The right-arm spinner also took 195 wickets.
