Malibongwe Maketa Joins South Africa as New Head Coach

South Africa New Head Coach: Malibongwe Maketa is now South Africa’s temporary head coach for their forthcoming three-match Test tour of Australia. He will step in once Mark Boucher leaves the position after the current T20 world cup.

Maketa, who has previously worked with the senior men’s side but in various capacities, most recently held the positions of South Africa A coach and National Academy Lead. From December to early January, he will be in command of the Test team.

Maketa, 42, was also a member of South Africa’s last Test tour of England, where he worked as a consultant for the four-day exhibition match against the England Lions and the first Test at Lord’s in August. Maketa previously served as the team’s associate head coach from 2017 to 2019.

Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe remarked, “We are thrilled to name Malibongwe as our temporary coach to lead the Proteas in Australia.” “He is a well-known figure around here and has previously worked in the same location as an assistant coach.

“Mali knows most of the players well; they know him too; and with such a short time between now and the tour, we as Cricket South Africa felt we needed someone who could step in immediately and lead us through what is an important series for the Proteas.

“We would like to wish him well on his appointment. He has our full support, and we have no doubt he will do South Africans proud in this series.”

South Africa in T20 World Cup 2022

For the semifinals, South Africa appears to be well-prepared. Pakistan seems determined to return home quickly. Both of those impending truths would very certainly be confirmed if Temba Bavuma’s squad won on Thursday at the SCG.

The South Africans are subtly gaining significant momentum. After restricting Rohit Sharma’s side to 133/9 in the first half of the doubleheader on Sunday in Perth. They may not have realised how difficult the circumstances would be to defeat India. The fact that they are the only team to have defeated India thus far in this tournament, despite making it home with two balls remaining, could not be concealed by anything.

According to all of this, South Africa ought to triumph on Thursday at the SCG. They haven’t defeated Pakistan in this competition, though.
