Other Expected but Unexpected Inclusion of Players
Following his tireless efforts in T20I cricket, the selection committee has opted to thrust Suryakumar Yadav into the red-ball setup. The 32-year-old has received his first call-up to the Test squad, and if the team chooses to play bravely, Sky may very well receive his maiden cap next month.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s top pacer, was left off the selection and will continue to recover from his injury while sitting out. Bumrah was scheduled to participate in the current ODI series against Sri Lanka, but the BCCI chose not to take a chance on him at the last minute and dropped him from the Sri Lanka ODI Series.
Maiden Call-up for Ishan Kishan
Another intriguing inclusion is the first-time selection of left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan to the Test squad. In first-class cricket, Kishan has scored 2985 runs at an average of 38.76. With a best score of 273 against Delhi in the 2016–17 Ranji season.
Ishan Kishan will be a direct replacement for Rishabh Pant. Who missed out on the Squad selection due to a Car accident he suffered in December.
