The Thunder are now all set for yet another exciting tournament, but as always they not been considered as the favourites to win the title this time too.
However, the Sydney Thunder side looking pretty solid on paper and hold the capability to turn the tables at any phase of the competition.

Sydney Thunder Strengths
Destructive Openers
Both Alex Hales and David Warner already established themselves as one of the most destructive openers of the current era.
In BBL’s last season, Hales was seen as his destructive best, as he scored brilliant 383 runs in 13 games at a strike-rate of over 148. While everyone knows the reputation of David Warner as an opening batter.
Run-rate during middle-overs
Apart from the skipper Jason Sangha, who mostly plays the anchor role in the team, there’s no other batter in the side who can play the game defensively, as all are destructive hitters.
Sangha, the 23-year-old batter, who captained the side in 3 games in the last season off BBL, smashed most runs for his side too.
He smashed 445 runs in just 12 games at an impressive average of 49.44 and a strike-rate of over 132 and was the fifth highest run-scorer in the competition.
There is an in-form international player too in their side, Rilee Rossouw, who is carrying over 176-plus strike rate in T20Is this year.
While he likes Australian pitches too, as we have seen in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Where he smashed a century in just 52 balls against Bangladesh, truly describes the team’s batting depth before the start of the league.

Finishers
The finishers’ part may be a cause of concern for the last year’s third best team, as some of their star finishers were seen in bit of pressure while batting in the last few games. And they needs to buckle up before the mega event.
Despite scoring runs at an incredible strike-rate of over 160, Sams failed to convert his starts, and as a result he only managed to score at average of just 19 while playing 15 matches.
Bowlers
We can’t really say that it is a big weakness, but this department is still be considered as the weakness of team Sydney Thunder.
This can be proved by looking at the stats, as only Daniel Sams, who took 19 wickets in 15 games, was there in the top 15 list of highest wicket-takers of last year’s Big Bash League.
