Who is Matt Critchley?
English cricketer Matthew James John Critchley was born on August 13, 1996. He currently plays for Essex County Cricket Club after joining them from Derbyshire County Cricket Club. On May 3, 2015, he faced Glamorgan in the 2015 County Championship, making his first-class debut.
He scored a century for Derbyshire in his second game, becoming him the youngest player to ever do so. In the 2016 NatWest t20 Blast match between Derbyshire and Lancashire Lightning, he made his Twenty20 debut on May 21.
In July 2020, Critchley extended his employment with Derbyshire for a further two years. It was revealed in October 2021 that Critchley had signed a three-year contract to join Essex for an unknown sum. He was acquired by the Welsh Fire in April 2022 for The Hundred’s 2022 season.
