England Test Captain Ben Stokes claimed the second test match victory by an innings and 85 runs with more than two days to go, the England skipper Ben Stokes sets new Standards hails that this victory would be the benchmark for future test matches and encourages his fellow mates to keep this standard every time they play.

England on Thursday claimed their first victory of the series after the huge loss in the first test match against South Africa, the England side bounced back from the first loss in a brilliant fashion. South Africa now felt the pain that the England side suffered after the first test match.

The three-match test series is now levelled 1-1 and both the teams showed their class in every game, First test match was all about South Africa, and the second test was all about the England side.

In the press conference, the skipper Ben Stokes stated that “When you take the last game [at Lord’s] into consideration, the way we managed to come back and play and just completely forget about that and put in the performance that we have, you could say yes, but a win is a win. You take them as they come. No one took a backward step this week, and came away with the win in the way that we did.”

When asked about the level of cricket they are trying to play the England skipper said that “Cricket is about how you bat, bowl and field and I think that the way we batted, bowled and fielded this whole game is like the benchmark of the standards of what we set,”

Talking about the improvements from the first test to the second test match the skipper stated that “I think what we did incredibly well with the bat was assess that we didn’t feel this was a wicket where we could go out and play in the way that we spoke about. I think that is real progress for the side.”

Ben Stokes finished off by saying “If we hadn’t evolved as well as we did, we could have been looking at South Africa going into put on you know 400 like we did.”

After South Africa wins the first test match and England wins the second test match that levels the series (1-1) and it will all down to the third and final test match of the series, where both sides will be looking to win the third match and claim the series win?

England will face off South Africa in the final test match of the series at the Oval cricket ground in London on September 8th.
