BCCI Planning To Resume Domestic Season From 19th November

The BCCI is considering 19th November for starting of the domestic season:

For the resumption of the domestic cricket, the BCCI is considering 19th November as the tentative date with Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament but the Indian players, who have involved in 2020 IPL wouldn’t play its first rounds due to quarantine rules.

The postponement at the starting of the domestic season because of the COVID-19 pandemic means that only Ranji Trophy and Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is scheduled to be held from 13th December to 10th March will be taken place comprising 245 matches in all formats with 38 squads.

This year, there will be no Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, or Challengers Series and as per now, there is no condition to hold Irani Cup also.

On condition of anonymity, a senior BCCI official told PTI “It is a tentative list of tournaments that have been prepared and all it has forwarded to seek the approval from secretary Jay Shah and president Sourav Ganguly.

According to the government rules, the players involved in 2020 IPL can only able to play in these after completing their 14 days quarantine period.

The BCCI official statement:

“It is a problem mainly for the uncapped cricketers, who would be with the team and would want to participate in some cricket matches. Now a cricketer won’t come back before 3rd November and he has to stay in quarantine until 17th November. Those players, whose sides have qualified the play-offs stage and come to finals, they would have to miss some first rounds of the tournament. But again it is not a permanent proposal and there could be some changes in the future.”

However, the Indian cricket board BCCI is expecting to host the next IPL season in India, beginning the end of March or the starting of April. According to the plan, the IPL team will keep a three-week time gap between the Ranji trophy and the starting of IPL which will help the domestic players to take some rest after the tournament.
