New Council of Members for Women’s Cricket & Junior Cricket
The selection of qualified applicants for these posts was handled by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which was made up of Ms Sulakshana Naik, Mr Ashok Malhotra, and Mr Jatin Paranjape. Following careful deliberation, the CAC unanimously recommended Ms Shyama Dey Shaw and Mr V S Thilak Naidu for the corresponding positions.
Experienced Council Members
The Women’s Selection Committee benefits greatly from the experience that Ms Shyama Dey Shaw, a former left-handed batter and medium-pace bowler, brings to the table. She represented India in three Test matches and five One-Day Internationals, putting up an excellent international career.
She first demonstrated her talent while playing domestic cricket for Bengal from 1985 to 1997, and then for Railways from 1998 to 2002. She continued to demonstrate her extensive knowledge of the game by serving as a Bengal selection for two terms after she retired as a player.
Mr VS Thilak Naidu, a former wicket-keeper and batter, has been chosen to lead the Junior Cricket Committee. With his extensive background in cricket, Mr Naidu is well-equipped to contribute to the development of young talent in the country.
New Members take over the Responsibility
Neetu David will serve as the committee’s chair, and Renu Margrate, Arati Vaidya, Kalpana Venkatacha, and Shyama Dey Shaw will serve as the other members. This group will be essential in determining how women’s cricket in India will develop in the future thanks to their combined knowledge and experience.
VS Thilak Naidu, together with Ranadeb Bose, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Pathik Patel, and Krishen Mohan, will be in charge of the Junior Cricket Committee. The main goal of this committee will be to spot and develop new talent, giving them chances to develop and succeed in the sport.
Jay Shah Wishes new members
The BCCI’s Honorary Secretary, Jay Shah, expressed confidence in the appointments and sent his best wishes to the new members. The BCCI anticipates that these committees will have a good influence on the growth of women’s cricket and the development of young talent in the nation.
