Perth Scorchers have won the toss and opted to bat against the Sydney Sixers. Meanwhile, the Sydney Sixers have suffered a major blow with the exit of important players Steve Smith, Jack Edwards, and Daniel Hughes, which appeared to be a big setback for the team. As the play began, Scorchers openers Josh Inglis and Kurtis Patterson got off to a promising start to the innings. As the table-toppers seemed to be on a positive note to secure the finals berth.

The 120-run partnership between the opening pair for Scorchers came to a halt when Sixers bowler Hayden Kerr’s brilliant delivery caught Patterson at 64 (41). However, Hayden Kerr made a relief after breaking the crucial stand to register the team’s first breakthrough. Meanwhile, Inglis has added 50 runs to his name and then joined Mitchell Marsh, the next batter, to boost the innings.
The Sixers failed to restrict the flow of runs and secure the early breakthroughs despite employing all of their firepowers. The deepest gratitude to the opening combo of Josh Inglis and Kurtis Patterson, whose aggressive hitting made the upcoming batsman’s job much easier.
On the other side, Steve Okeefe steps in to make the 2nd breakthrough for the side upon bagging the Scorchers opener Josh Inglis 79 (49). In their 190-run chase, the Sydney Sixers have made a slow start in their chase. Furthermore, Behrendorff grabbed a couple of wickets, Justin Avendano 0 (3) and Jordan Silk 1 (5). Eventually, Richardson came in to bag his 2nd wicket, Moises Henriques 17 (30). Then Ashton Agar gets in to attack, to hold a couple of wickets in the form of Nicholas Bertus 4 (7) and Daniel Christian 7 (4). Turner lets Sean Abbott for a run-out. The Scorchers bowling unit dominated the show with their consistency, grabbing 7 wickets in a quick session.
The Sixers struggled to chase the target with 3-wickets in hand until Andrew Tye gets 2 wickets in the shape of Hayden Kerr 22 (18) and Nathan Lyon 2 (2), and their batting order finally collapsed as they had no means to deal with the Scorchers bowlers. As the Sixers’ prospects of reaching the Finals faded, as they were unable to survive till the 20 overs. Ben Dwarshuis 66 (29) seemed to be the only batsman who stood strong for Sixers to some extent but fell short for Hatzoglou to hand over a clinical win for the Scorchers. The Scorchers clearly had a great day, as they batted aggressively and bowled consistently.
As a result, the Sixers were unable to tackle the Scorchers’ tactics and experienced a defeat in the Qualifier, allowing the Scorchers to progress to the Finals. Furthermore, Sydney Sixers will now have another chance to advance to the finals, if they win the challenger round.
