The Indian cricket team faced 80 percent fine of its match fees for bowling slow overs during the 1st ODI against Bangladesh at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Ranjan Madugalle, one of the Elite Panel of Match Referees, has imposed the sanction after Rohit Sharma led-side was ruled to be four overs short of the target time allowances were taken into consideration.
“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over fallen short.” The ICC stated in a statement on Monday.
Rohit Sharma, however, the skipper of team India, has accepted the proposed offence.
On-field umpires Michael Gough and Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Gazi Sohel levelled the charge.
India lost to Bangladesh by 1 wicket

Middle-order failed to rescue

While filling in for starter wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, Rahul was the middle-order leader for India. The versatile batsman scored 73 runs in just 70 balls. India reached a respectable total thanks to Rahul’s entertaining performance, which Bangladesh then successfully chased down in 46 overs.
Indian bowlers did good job
With all of their fast bowlers, Indian bowlers kept the game tight. Spinner Sundar did everything right to help India get closer to victory, Indian bowlers took 9 Bangladeshi wickets at a score of 136. However, when Bangladesh still needed 51 runs to win, India bowlers were unable to claim final wicket.
There was just Mehidy Hasan, the final designated hitter, and Mustafizur Rahman, the no. 11 batter, present at that time. The Indian bowlers failed to get that one wicket, and lost the game.
Mehidy Hasan, who helped his side win the nail-biting match with his unbeaten 38 off 39 awarded with the player of the match title.
