Afghanistan Aim To Host T20I Tri-Series Ahead Of World Cup

The Afghanistan Cricket Board Hopes To Play T20I Tri-Series:

The Afghanistan Cricket Board hopes to play the T20I tri-series, involving Australia and the West Indies in India, ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2021.

The three boards have verbally agreed to play the tri-series and are likely to list the venues and dates for the tournament in the near future. The 2020 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was postponed due to Covid-19, will be held in Australia in 2022, while India will host the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as scheduled.

“This series will be held back in India before the World Cup,’ said ACB interim chief executive Nazim Zar Abdulrahimzai. “It will be a triangular T20 series involving Afghanistan, the West Indies and Australia.”

Development also follows Zimbabwe’s five-game T20I series against Afghanistan, scheduled for August in Harare, to be canceled due to Covid-19 infections.

Meanwhile, Andy Moles, Chief Electoral Officer of Cricket and Chief Electoral Officer of Afghanistan, said they were hoping to confirm a one-off test against Australia, expected to begin on 21 November in Perth.

According to the Future Tour Program, Australia is expected to host Afghanistan, but due to the Covid-19 situation, tours and tournaments are being rescheduled. By the way, the Indian Premier League will play in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. “We ‘re focusing on getting the test match confirmed against Australia in December,” Moles said.
