Mohammad Javed Miandad, known as Javed Miandad. is a former Pakistani cricketer,  cricket coach, and commentator. Pakistan hosted Sri Lanka on Wednesday in Rawalpindi for their home Test for the first time in more than a decade.

Miandad, who was invited to the historic match as a special guest, interacted with fans near the boundary fence during the lunch interval on Day 1 of the first Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test.

Miandad Catches Up with Fans

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken to Twitter to share a video that shows Javed Miandad shaking hands with fans. “Always a crowd puller,“ the video was captured by the PCB.

Sri Lanka won the toss in the match and chose to bat. Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne brought up his 24th half-century to assist the visitors on the opening day of the Test with no loss in 26 overs at lunch.

Shortly after the break, Shaheen Afridi trapped Karunarante right in front of the stumps,  providing the hosts with their first breakthrough. Ironically, not all the 15 Pakistani players named in the Test squad played a Test match before their home spectators.

The visitors arrived in Pakistan without their fast bowler Suranga Lakmal. The 32-year-old, who is suffering from dengue fever,  was ruled out of the Test series.

The two-match Test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship where India is leading by winning seven out of seven games and has collected 360 points.

Pakistan, who played two games in the Test Championship, sits seventh after suffering an innings loss in both the Australian Test matches.
