Records tumbled in Bengaluru as Tamil Nadu went on to post 506/2 in 50 overs, and hence for the first time ever, these many runs were scored in a List A match. Narayan Jagadeesan played his best cricket against Arunachal Pradesh and he went to play a knock of 277 runs with the help of 25 fours and 15 sixes.

Before this performance by Tamil Nadu, the highest-ever list A total belonged to England who had posted 498 runs in 498 runs in an ODI against the Netherlands.

List A cricket includes the ODI matches and matches of various domestic competitions in which the number of overs per team range from 40 to 60.

Jagadeesan became the first player to score hundreds in five consecutive innings in men’s List A cricket. Previously, three batters had four centuries in a row – Kumar Sangakkara in 2014-15, Alviro Petersen in 2015-16 and Devdutt Padikkal in 2020-21.

Tamil Nadu’s score 506 for 2 in this match against Arunachal, the first team to score 500-plus runs in men’s List A cricket. The previous highest was 498 for 4 by England against Netherlands earlier this year.

Jagadeesan’s strike rate during his 141-ball 277 was 196.45 the highest for any double hundred in men’s List A cricket. The previous highest was 181.1 by Travis Head. When he scored 230 off 127 balls against Queensland in 2021.

Partnership runs between Jagadeesan and B Sai Sudharsan was of 416 for the first wicket against Arunachal. The first pair to share a 400-run stand for any wicket in men’s List A cricket well in Vijay Hazare Trophy. The previous highest partnership was 372 between Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels in 2015.

Jagadeesan in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy got 5 Hundreds more than any batter in an edition of this competition. Virat Kohli (2008-09), Devdutt Padikkal (2020-21), Prithvi Shaw (2020-21) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (2021-22) – all had four hundreds.

The batter made this landmark during his side’s match against Arunachal Pradesh. At the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy in India’s top-class 50-over domestic cricket competition.

In the match, he brought up his fifth-consecutive hundred in the tournament. He also has the most number of consecutive tons in a single season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
