Rashid Khan, the Adelaide Strikers spinner, got his third T20 hat-trick during his miraculous spell to defend a low score.
In the ongoing 27th match of the ninth season of Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers at the penultimate delivery of the 11th over when Sixers batsman James Vince (27) was nosed out by a Rashid’s delivery.
Later, Jake Edwards, the 6th batsman, was far in front of the wickets. In the next delivery, Khan took his wicket. He was given out LBW despite the ball looking as if it had traveled high and wide of leg stump. It can probably be considered that Edward had an unlucky movement.
In the 13th over’s first ball, Jordan Silk failed to tackle a hook ball from Rashid as the ball went between his leg pads and his bat. With this wicket, Rashid bagged his third hat-trick.
Opposing a 136-target, Khan’s Spell kept the players tentative until Josh Hazlewood (he is celebrating his birthday today) hit three fours in a row to seal the chase in the last but one over.
Rashid was the pick of all the bowlers of his team with figures of 4-0-22-4. With this Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan leggie proved that he is one of the best in the business. When it comes to the shortest format of the game.
Have a look at Rashid Khan’s Hat-Trick:
He joins Xavier Doherty, Josh Lalor, and Andrew Tye to become the fourth cricketer to take a BBL hat-trick. Khan achieved the feat twice.
Despite Khan’s valiant bowling, the Sixers overhauled the target with some degree of difficulty to win with eight balls to spare.
It was the decision of Daniel Hughes’ (Sydney captain) to bowl first. They bundled out Strikers for 135 in 19.4 overs. Both Ben Dwarshius and Lloyd Pope contributed with a couple of wickets each while Tom Curran picked four wickets for the visitors.
