Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to make a comeback in the Indian Premier League after a span of over 5 years. The Chennai-based franchise-CSK-picked the player for his base price of 50 lacs in the recently conducted mini-auction. Pujara was handed the second chance in the cash-rich league due to his heroics in the recently conducted ‘Down Under’ series wins. However, Pujara’s entry in CSK’s starting XI is still a very big questions mark.

IPL 2021: Brett Lee Questions Pujara’s T20I Abilities

Australian legendary pacer Brett Lee questioned Pujara’s calibre when it comes to T20I cricket. While Lee admitted that Pujara possesses great technique and utmost determination, the Australian also pointed out his inability to perform in the shorted format of the game.

“You can look at two different aspects. Firstly, he is a terrific cricketer – there is no doubt about his ability, no doubt about his technique or his determination to bat time. But when you look at the other side of things, you’ve also got to think that this isn’t Test cricket, this is T20s. It’s over in 90 minutes, 20 overs,” Lee said on the show titled T20 Crazy on SportsAdda.

Brett Lee also questioned Cheteshwar’s ability to switch gears whenever the situation asks for. “You’ve got to score runs as quickly as possible. Can he do that under pressure? Maybe he can. What we’ve seen recently in the Australian series is that he loves to bat time so look it’s an interesting call. I’m a big fan of Pujara, I think he has a lot to offer. But let’s see if he can make it in this format,” Lee explained.
