Family

Jasprit Bumrah was born in Ahmedabad, Gujrat on December 6th, 1993. His father’s name is Jasbir Singh Bumrah and his mother’s name is Daljit Bumrah. Jasprit has a sister, named as Juhika Bumrah, who is a teacher at Zebar School, Ahmedabad. They belong to a middle-class Sikh Ramgarhia family.

Jasprit’s father was an industrialist and when Jasprit was seven years old, he lost his father. After that, his mother raised them single-handedly. His mother was the school principal of Nirman High School at that time.

Jasprit Bumrah completed his schooling at Nirman High School, Ahmedabad. In childhood days, Bumrah always wanted to get settled in Canada but after some time, when he was 14 years old, he realized that cricket is his passion and worked hard to improve his game. When he was studying in school, Kishore Trivedi was his coach. In the year 2012, he started playing for the Gujrat Under-19 as a bowler.

Domestic Career

During the 2013-2014 season, in 2013 October, Jasprit Bumrah played his debut first-class match against Vidarbha for Gujarat. In this starting match, he showed his shining skill and took 7 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah became the top wicket-taker by the time the whole tournament finished.

After his Ranji Trophy achievement, Jasprit played his first Twenty20 match in the year 2012-13 Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy against Maharashtra and also won Man of the Match title.

One Day International Career

Jasprit Bumrah played his first one-day international match at Sydney against Australia on 23rd January 2016. Till that date, he had already taken 103 wickets in 57 games.

In ODI cricket, Bumrah became the second-fastest bowler of India, who is able to take 100 wickets. He is just one game behind Mohammad Shami, who played 56 matches and took 100 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah’s awesome strike rate of only 4.5 per over makes him the best bowler. For five-time, he has taken 4 wickets in an innings while 5 wicket haul in a match. Test Match Career

Jasprit Bumrah has played only 10 test matches till date. He played his first test match on 5-8 January 2018 at Cape Town against South Africa.

In these 10 Test matches, he had claimed 49 wickets and his best figure is 6/33. Three times, he has taken 5 wickets and his economy is only 2.66 per over.

Bumrah is the first bowler of Asia, who is able to take 5 wickets haul in a Test innings in England, South Africa, and Australia in the same year.

Although Jasprit Bumrah is a newcomer for playing Test matches, he has overcome the 40-year-old record of Dileep Joshi of taking the maximum number of wickets for India in the debut year with his 48 wickets.

Bumrah is the third-highest wicket-taker in a debut year in test matches with 48 wickets by playing 9 matches whereas Dileep Joshi took 40 wickets in his debut Test year in the year 1979.

T-20 I Career

Jasprit Bumrah is taken as a tremendous bowler of rapid-fire format. That’s why in only 42 matches, he has taken 51 wickets in Twenty20 matches with an economy of only 6.71. His best bowling record in T20 is 3/11.

In this Twenty20 format, Bumrah’s strike rate is 18, which means that he usually takes a wicket after giving 18 runs which is very uncommon in this format.

IPL  Career

In the year 2013, Jasprit Bumrah played his first Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians and till date he involved with Mumbai Indians franchise only. With Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka, Jasprit Bumrah became the nightmare for batsmen and also troubled great batsmen like Virat Kohli.

ICC World Cup

Jasprit Bumrah was included in the team India for the Cricket World Cup  2019. The International Cricket Council (ICC) selected Bumrah as one of the five talented cricketers making their debut in the Cricket World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah took his 100th wicket in one day international and became the second-fastest wicket-taker of India after Mohammad Shami against Sri Lanka. In the year 2019 World Cup, he was the highest wicket-taker. From nine matches, he has claimed eighteen wickets.
