Family:

Yuzvendra Chahal was born on 23rd July 1990 in a Hindu Family, Haryana. K K Chahal is his father, who is an advocate and Sunita Devi is his mother, who is a homemaker. Chahal has two elder sisters and both are settled in Australia. They belong to a middle class, Hindu caste; Jat family. Now, Chahal’s family lives in Patiala Chowk, Jind. In his childhood, Yuzvendra was very thin & skinny, that’s why his friends used to call him ‘single haddi’.  Yuzi, Tilli are his nicknames.

ODI career

Yuzvendra Chahal played his first One-day International match on 11th January 2016 at Harare Sports Club against the team of Zimbabwe. In his first match, he was able to take only 1 wicket, giving 27 runs in his 10 overs. In the second match, he bowled economically and took three wickets and helped India to win the match by 8 wickets. Till his 40 matches, he has already taken 71 wickets incorporating his two times five-wicket hauls at an economy rate of 4.8. On 18th January 2019, he claimed his best figure by taking 6 wickets for 42 runs against the team Australia.

IPL career

In the year, 2011, Yuzvendra Chahal initiated his career in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Mumbai Indians franchise. But, he was able to get only one match that year. However, after that, he had taken 2 wickets while giving only 9 runs in 3 overs in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. He achieved that in the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and helped his team Mumbai Indians to defend the total score of 139 runs and lift the champion title. It was the most memorable performance of Chahal in IPL. It was the Champions League only when he got so much name & fame and become so much popular. He helped the Mumbai Indians teams to win the title in the final match against RCB with a spell of 3-0-9-2, although in the next two years with Mumbai Indians, his dry run continued and he managed to play only in one match.

In the 2014 Indian Premier League auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Yuzvendra Chahal with his basic price of Rs. 10 lakh. After that in 2018 Indian Premier League auction, RCB again selected him but this time with a huge amount of Rs.6 crore. Yuzvendra Chahal is a top spinner for Royal Challengers Bangalore as he bowls outstandingly at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, their home ground. The stadium turned into batting heaven due to its short limits, which isn’t less than a bad dream for spinners. So far, Yuzvendra Chahal has played 84 IPL matches and managed to take 100 wickets at a brilliant economy of 7.78 and an average of 23.18.

T20I career

After a mesmerizing performance of Yuzvendra Chahal in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was able to earn his Twenty20 international cap. On 18th June 2016, he played his first Twenty20 international match at Harare Sports Club against Zimbabwe. After a splendid performance in Zimbabwe, Chahal was incorporated in the Indian team against the team of England at home. In this match, he claimed six wickets for 25 runs, which is the second-best figure for a bowler in a Twenty20 tournament. For this action, Yuzvendra Chahal became the best leg-spinner in the history of Twent20 Internationals. In T20Is format, he was the top wicket-taker in the year 2017, in which he took 23 wickets. So far, Chahal has claimed 45 wickets in 29 games at an average rate of 19.93.

Along with this tournament, Chahal also represented India in numerous age-group levels in chess. Also, he won the title of Under-12 champion in the year 2002 National Children’s chess. In the year 2013, he represented India in the Under-12 Asian Youth Championship category at Kozhikode. He was among the top 20 players and also the part of the Indian Under-16 chess team and played for India in the World Youth Championships, held in Greece.  But after that, he couldn’t find any sponsors.
