Punjab opener Shubman Gill gets furious
After being given out wrongly by the umpire, Mohammad Rafi, Shubman Gill got annoyed and abused him in the 4th round of Ranji Trophy. He refused to walk back after his decision.

The umpire revoked his decision as Shubman Gill didn’t want to leave the ground. This created a huge controversy, and he was subsequently ruled not out. Match referee controlled the situation in the ground.
Umpire’s Blunder
The umpire committed a mistake when Shubman Gill was on 10. The umpire at the bowler’s end went to the leg umpire Paschim Pathak to recheck the decision, which he reversed later. After the reverse decision, the Delhi team left the ground and held a huge controversy.
Delhi & District Cricket Association’s (DDCA) statement :
General secretary of DDCA Vinod Thihara said that the match would be stopped for a few minutes. The Delhi team thought Gill was out, and they argued with the umpires as to why the decision was changed to not out. Thihara also issued a statement after the controversy.
Match had a brief stop and the play resumed after the reversal of the decision. The match referee Ranganathan entered the ground and sustained the situation. Nitish Rana was disappointed with umpire’s reverse decision.
Shubman Gill fails to score big
Gill scored only 23 runs off 41 balls against Delhi before he got out. He has lost his form and has not been playing well in Ranji Trophy matches of late.

Punjab team had won the toss and opted to bat first. All-rounder Gurkeerat Singh completed his 20th half-century. Punjab scoreboard 241/6 for 70 overs. Mandeep also hit a half-century in this game. Twitter reacted on this controversial match and got angry with the umpire for reversing the decision, and they criticized the behavior of Shubman Gill.
