The commentary panel of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) dismissed Cricketer-turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar who has been at the helm of many controversies, reported a leading media house on Sunday. Manjrekar who was absent from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the first one-day internationals between India and South Africa in Dharamsala is likely to be left out of IPL.

While the factors that prompted such a decision on the part of India’s top cricket body are not very clear, a BCCI source said they were not satisfied with his work. The source added on, “Maybe he’ll even be left out of the IPL stand. That’s not on top of our minds at this point.

Sanjay Manjrekar has recently drawn critical attention. He was slammed in July 2019 by allrounder Ravindra Jadeja after branding him a “bits and pieces cricketer.” Jadeja took to Twitter to remind the 54-year-old analyst that he had already played twice as many matches and urged him to avoid his “verbal diarrhea.”

In a bid to pacify the situation following Jadeja’s brilliant results, Sanjay Manjrekar said, “He’s torn me apart on all fronts by bits ‘ n ‘ pieces of pure genius.”
