India’s Limited-Over Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma was awarded India’s highest sporting honor, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Trophy, confirmed by the BCCI on Friday (August 21). Rohit has just become the fourth cricketer to be given this honor. The awards will practically take effect on August 29 as a result of the current coronavirus pandemic. Rohit had an excellent 2019, where he scored 1,490 runs in ODIs at an average of 57.30, and also ended as the top runner-up in the World Cup with five centuries in the tournament. He was also promoted as an opener at Test Cricket, where he scored 556 runs in five matches.
