India won a dramatic match at Lord’s after comprehensively outplaying their opponents on the last day. On the last day, England was in complete charge of the game, but they finally lost their way. As a result, captain Joe Root’s leadership on the last day of the 2nd Test was challenged. Nasser Hussain, a former England skipper, told out that Root has to be a lot more cautious while trying to pick up his assault. Here is Why Nasser Hussain Wants Joe Root To Be An Angry Captain

Why Nasser Hussain Wants Joe Root To Be An Angry Captain

In both Matches played, Root seems to have been the squad’s crucial player. He’s put on some furious displays with the willow and held the side’s fort. On a penultimate day at Lord’s, though, he was chastised for striking up a fight with Jasprit Burah.

Root, according to Nasser Hussain, is a wonderful ambassador for the game in the region, and his attitude is outstanding. He went on to say that Root needs to choose the appropriate battle to address the hosts’ worries.

Root would be better off picking a battle with his top three over their lack of runs: Nasser Hussain

“At times, Joe picks the wrong moment to go into battle. He got it wrong on that final morning at Lord’s when he picked a fight with Jasprit Bumrah. He would be better off picking a battle with his top three over their lack of runs, or the ECB over scheduling,” Nasser Hussain opened in an Interaction.

Joe Root is on the edge of being England’s most accomplished captain ever. With one more win, he would surpass Michael Vaughan’s milestone of 26 Test wins. If you think Root isn’t a good leader, Hussain says this is something to think about.

Hussain went on to say that it is critical for England to assess the situation carefully before deciding on their strategy for the contest. He also believes that being a little rude at times and expressing to the team precisely what one feels is necessary.

“The only thing I would say, not just about Root but also this England regime, is that it seems they do not quite know when to be ruthless and when is the right time for Joe to be an angry captain. The time to offer the stick rather than the carrot”.

“The England set-up is full of nice people, whether that be Root, Chris Silverwood, Paul Collingwood, or Graham Thorpe. But at some stage, you have to be tough and tell your team exactly what you think,” Hussain wrote.
