Delhi Capitals beat Bangalore Challengers by 60 runs to win their first game of the campaign

Match Highlights, RCB-W vs DEL-W: RCB started off pretty well with Smriti and Sophie Devine both scoring some quick runs at the start of the chase but soon the partnership failed, as Sophie Devine was dismissed in the fifth over after scoring 14 runs from 11 balls. It felt like the RCB were on the right track in chasing the target. 

However, Delhi came back into the game with a couple of quick wickets. The target was high and it was quite a difficult task for Bangalore to cross the line. As the first two wickets fell, the RCB team was completely imbalanced. They started losing wickets at regular intervals. 

RCB-W vs DEL-W: Amazing Bowling Performance from Delhi Capitals 

Delhi had to deal with problems at the start of the innings but later Tara Norris changed the course of the match with her five-wicket haul, as the young bowler picked up five wickets in her spell to dismantle the RCB batting line-up. Shikha Pandey also managed to pick up a wicket in her four-over spell.

Tara Norris finished her bowling with 5/29 in four overs. Alice Capsey was the other Delhi bowler who picked up two wickets and help Delhi to restrict Bangalore to 163/8 runs inside 20 overs.

RCB-W vs DEL-W: Early on in the Innings 

After choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, RCB brought in the Delhi players Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning, who made a strong start for the Delhi squad. In their opening game of the tournament, the Delhi team posted an amazing score thanks to their two-person 162-run combination.

Bangalore employed a total of seven bowlers to prevent Delhi from scoring runs. In the end, Heather Knight manages to take two wickets in the 15th over to turn the tide in the RCB Women’s favour.

RCB-W vs DEL-W: Game Changers of the Match

Meg Lanning, the captain of the Australian team, and Shafali Verma were undoubtedly the game’s top performers. To reach their fifties, they each played some remarkable shots. Meg Lanning scored 72 runs off of 43 balls, hitting 14 fours in the process. She was crucial to Delhi’s ability to produce such a high total. She will be a significant player for Delhi as the tournament’s later rounds approach.

Shafali, on the other hand, completed her innings with 84 runs off 45 balls and recorded her first fifty in the WPL. Shafali scored four sixes and ten fours.

RCB-W vs DEL-W: What’s Next?

RCB women after losing their first game will now try to come back strongly against Gujarat Giants on 8th March Wednesday at 7:30 PM IST. While on the other hand Delhi Capitals after winning the first game will face UP Warriors in the 5th match of the WPL 2023 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on 7th March Tuesday at 7:30 PM IST
