For the first time since November 2003, right before the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will welcome New Zealand at home. 3 One-Day Internationals and 5 Twenty-20 Internationals will be played between the 2 sides. Let’s look at New Zealand Tour To Pakistan

New Zealand Tour To Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the complete schedule of the visit on Thursday, with 3 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) to be played first, then by T20Is. The trip will end on October 3, approximately 2 weeks just before T20 World Cup kicks off in the UAE and Oman.

The visit coincides with the opening of the 2nd leg of the IPL on 19th September. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Chief David White announced last week that all NZ players will be ready for the IPL. The important Kiwi players will not be picked for the Pakistan tour, as a result of this.

In terms of the tour, the visiting group will arrive in Pakistan on September 11 and would be subjected to necessary quarantine for the next 3 days. They will be able to train and prepare on September 15 and 16, prior to the start of the ODI series on September 17. The next 2 One-Day Internationals will be held on September 19 & 21, consecutively.

I am pleased New Zealand Cricket has accepted our offer to play 2-additional T20Is: Wasim Khan

The ODI series will be held in Rawalpindi, whereas the T20Is will be held in the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. On 25th September, the battle in the shortest format will begin. New Zealand will also have a busy work schedule in September, as they will play Bangladesh before heading to Pakistan for a five-match T20I series.

“Series against a top-ranked side like New Zealand will be a perfect start to a mouth-watering and highly-exciting home season of red and white-ball cricket. The 2019 World Cup finalists, who are also the World Test champions and ranked third in T20Is, will draw tremendous attraction and interest from the local fans, and will reinforce Pakistan’s status as a safe and secure country”.

“I am pleased New Zealand Cricket has accepted our offer to play two additional Twenty20 Internationals. These will not only provide extra games to both the countries as part of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup preparations but will also allow New Zealand players to spend extra days in Pakistan, familiarise themselves with our culture, and enjoy our hospitality,” PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan concluded.
