Pakistan Player News: No better time to come back to their all-time best. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were back in form against the Blackcaps. However, the pair’s statistics in 20-over cricket are astounding. As they broke another record while preparing for their victory over New Zealand. More than any other opening combo in the tournament’s history, the Pakistan openers’ 105-run stand marked their third-century partnership in a Men’s T20I World Cup. Their eighth-century partnership in all T20Is was also an all-time high, easily surpassing the next-highest team India’s KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, who had five.

Babar and Rizwan have combined to score 2509 runs for Pakistan in the Men’s T20I format, which is 621 runs more than any other duo. This feat will make them by far the most prolific scoring partnership in the competition’s history.

Prior to the semi-final, captain Babar Azam had only scored double figures once in the competition, scoring a shaky 25 against Bangladesh in the final group match.

Babar Azam started off in a brillant fashion scoring 53 runs from 42 balls with seven fours on a strike rate of 126.16. Babar was once again see at his best after struggling from the poor performance in the group stages.

Rizwan, who was just recently dethroned as the top player in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. He has been in somewhat better form than his captain, amassing 49 runs against the Netherlands and 32 runs against Bangladesh during the Super 12 stage.

Rizwan later noted that his 57 from 43 balls against the Black Caps. This was by far his greatest performance of the tournament thus far and that it was built on aggression up top and a move to an anchor attitude as the innings went on.

The best opening duo in history back in action. Pakistan will have no one to fear in the MCG final on Sunday.
