The England openers, Jos Buttler and Jason Roy made their mindset clear from the beginning. Buttler scored 18 runs on a four and a six before being bowled by left-armer Nasum. He attempted to punch one high for a six, but Naim made an easy grab in the deep. Jos Buttler and Jason Roy had put on 39 (29 balls) to set the stage for the English run-chase.
Following Buttler was dismissed, Roy went on to complete his half-century in 33 balls. The latter scored 61 runs off 38 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes before being caught by Shoriful Islam. Dawid Malan, who did not bat in the previous match, stepped out to bat at No. 3 against Bangladesh. While England brought the shot on target with 35 balls to play, he remained unbroken on 28 off 23 with 3 fours.
