Sri Lanka Premier League To Start From August 28

The Inaugural Edition Of Lanka Premier League T20 Competition Will Start From August:

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League T20 competition will run from 28 August to 20 September.

“Approval was granted by the Sri Lankan Cricket Executive Committee at today’s meeting (27 July) for conducting the inaugural Lanka Premier League T20 tournament from 28 August to 20 September 2020,” a statement read on Monday’s official website.

23 league matches will be played at four venues — R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, RangiriDambulu International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium. In the league will compete five teams named after the towns of Colombo , Kandy, Galle, Dambulla and Jaffna.

SLC also said that “over 70 international players and 10 top-notch coaches have confirmed their availability for the tournament along with leading national players in Sri Lanka.” Having just four in the final eleven in the competition, every franchise will be allowed to pick up a maximum of six international players in the squad.

SLC would later come out with a tournament schedule and said “the offer for the title holder of the event is scheduled to close on 30 July.”
