Former India skipper MS Dhoni has been away from cricket since the World Cup ended last year. He has all set to return for Chennai Super Kings in the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The IPL tournament will begin next month. At the end of this year, the T20I World Cup is set to be played in Australia. Fans are wondering if Dhoni will join the team for the ICC tournament. Former captain Kapildev was questioned on Dhoni’s inclusion in the India team. He believes that the wicketkeeper-batsman needs to practice more and play more matches to play.
Kapil Dev’s Words:
Kapil Dev said to media “I am not talking only about Dhoni. I am a person who looks for younger talent because of whom we can be proud of the upcoming next ten years. In my opinion, Dhoni already gave a lot to the country through his inbound talent and skills.”
“As a fan, we would like to see him playing in the T20 World Cup. But as a cricketer, it all depends on the management. He wasn’t part of any game in the last year. He should play more matches with the team. There should be no different rules for different players.”
“In the upcoming IPL tournament, I am looking for the next generation of players. Dhoni is on his last leg. I am a Dhoni fan too, so I would love to see him play, But not in IPL, as I am looking forward to the next generation players to get a chance.”
Chennai Super Kings captain will start his training for the IPL along with his teammates who are available in Chennai from March 2nd. The IPL 2020 tournament will be started on March 29. The first match is between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. As CSK CEO said, Dhoni will be training with the players of the team that begins on March 19.
